Crowsnest Pass Skating Club

Winter Magic - March 2009

This year the carnival committee has chosen "Winter Magic" as our carnival theme. We hope to incorporate all elements of winter activities into the performance. The carnival will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Coleman Complex.

Carnival is almost upon us now and the club has been busy  to ensure that everything runs smoothly. We have a couple of reminders for parents about carnival..  We need ALL skaters to attend EVERY practice to make sure that each number is well known. This includes skaters who are only registered for one day per week. We will also be having costume fitting dates over the next couple weeks to ensure that all costumes fit properly.

When you come into the designated dressing area on rehearsal day (March 13th), your child’s costumes will be hanging on designated hooks with their name placed on the hangers. Please be sure to try on the correct costumes. If there are any problems with the costumes, please let either Sasha, Linda or Jan know that we can correct any problems before Saturday.

Your skater may need to provide some items for costume and a list will be provided by Sunday, March 8th if your skater is required to bring or wear anything specific. If you have any questions or concerns about costumes, please contact Sasha at sashanjohn@shaw.ca or 562-8667. We will be having a full dress rehearsal at 5 pm on Friday, March 13 and all skaters will need to be in attendance. The carnival begins on Saturday, March 14 at 2 pm and all skaters will need to be at the arena, in the dressing room by 12:15 pm. The CNPSC will be serving snacks in one the dressing room for our skaters. Admission for skaters as well as immediate family members (parents, siblings and guardians) will be free of charge.

We are always in need of volunteers for this event and it is a great way to finish up any volunteer hours that are owed. If you would like to volunteer for carnival, please contact the carnival chair, Jan Rolston.

Annual Banquet

Our annual banquet will be held following the carnival at 5:30 pm in the Curling Banquet Hall located upstairs of the Coleman Complex. At the banquet, the skaters will be given individual awards and medals for their accomplishments throughout the season.

The skating club will pay for all skater’s meals, however family members wishing to attend the banquet will be responsible for purchasing their own tickets at a cost of $12.50 per ticket. Ticket forms will be given to each skater on Wednesday, March 4th during lessons and will need to be returned by March 11th with payment to reserve your seats.
